Who we are
A firm built on relationships, not transactions.
We're an independent, fee-only RIA. No commissions, no affiliations, no conflicts. Just straightforward advice from people who take your financial life seriously.
Our story
O'Brien Strategic Wealth was founded on a simple conviction: that people with complex financial lives deserve an advisor who is completely on their side. Not a broker. Not a product salesperson. An advisor whose only job is to help you make good decisions.
We registered as an independent RIA because independence matters. It means we can recommend what's right for you — not what earns us a commission or satisfies a quota. It means our interests and yours are aligned in the most direct way possible.
Over the years, we've worked with executives navigating business sales, families managing inherited wealth, and professionals building toward retirement. The situations differ. The approach doesn't: listen carefully, plan thoughtfully, and stay close.
The team
The people behind the advice.
Ryan O'Brien
Founder & Principal Advisor
Ryan founded O'Brien Strategic Wealth after more than twenty-six years in wealth management, having spent the last twenty years with one of the world's largest asset managers. He has spent his career working with high-net-worth individuals and families on complex financial planning challenges. He believes the best financial advice is deeply personal — and that the advisor relationship is the foundation everything else is built on.
Focus: Wealth management, financial planning, investment advisory, client relationships
How we're registered
Independent. Fee-only. Fiduciary.
Registered Investment Advisor
We are registered as an independent RIA, which means we are legally required to act as fiduciaries — putting your interests first, always.
Fee-only compensation
We are compensated solely by our clients. We do not receive commissions, referral fees, or any form of third-party compensation. Our advice is never influenced by how we're paid.
Decades of experience
We are able to relate to past milestones, both good and bad, to current market/economic conditions and how that could impact your plan. We can because we were there to experience them.
We'd be glad to introduce ourselves.
If you'd like to learn more about how we work and whether we might be a good fit, a conversation is the best place to start.
